About the role
Work on the vector search infrastructure behind Claude, focusing on fast, scalable nearest-neighbor search over billions of vectors. Shape the architecture, performance, and cost of Anthropic's vector database layer.
What you’ll do
• Own core vector database layer: index, storage, query, serving. • Ensure production readiness and operational tooling. • Drive recall, latency, and cost trade-offs. • Scale throughput as demand grows. • Lead design reviews and mentor engineers.
What you’ll bring
• Experience building vector or nearest-neighbor search systems in production. • Deep knowledge of ANN index structures and vector quantization. • Strong systems programming skills in Rust, C++, or Go. • Experience with large-scale distributed storage or serving systems. • Strong communication and alignment skills.
